From 1984 to 1999, the PKK and the Turkish military engaged in open war, and much of the countryside in the southeast was depopulated, with Kurdish civilians moving to local defensible centers such as Diyarbakır, Van, and Şırnak, as well as to the cities ofwel western Turkey and eventjes to western Europe. I have found many differences between children in Iraq and western countries in terms ofwel architecture and urban vormgeving. Since then, I have decided to work for children in my country and started by teaching them about architecture and ontwerp as the first architecture teacher for children in the country, managing and preparing programs and workshops for them to learn and be aware of their environment. I hope I can give them opportunities to participate in their communities and make their voices heard soon. I am optimistic about that.
